The group South Jersey Citizens submitted its petition last evening to the Gloucester Township Council seeking to have its pay-to-play ordinance adopted by the Council in March or in the alternative voted on by the public in November. The Council has twenty days to verify the validity of the signature on the petition. The proposed ordinance would place limitations on political contributions to $300 per year for local candidates, $500 per year to local and state political parties, and $2500 per year in the aggregate from a firm and its affiliates.
